Tap = 8.2 or so around here. Knife was in about 8.0 I think due to a air stone falling apart. All of my tanks are a combo of 1/2 tap and 1/2 r/o so my fish don't start getting a water scale build up on them (j/k but this stuff is hard). The tank all the other cats are in is about 6.6-6.8. The current pH in the 600 is about 7.6. the buffer capacity is almost maxed. It's starting to go through the swing. Once I get a little closer, I'll do it.

dang...buch of you guys/girls down the road...bout 2hrs. When are we having a meet/tank observation/bbq?

I need to come down and check out your monster 600 and jcardona's cichla 405. So when we doing this.....?

Fish meet? I like it. We should do a SoCal tank hopping! I'd love to share the tank, but its a bit crowded in my garage, and the backyard... so lets just hope ya'll like each other. It would be 'cozy'. Its always fun to get together and talk fish without anyone looking at you like you're crazy unless you are trying to stuff a big fish in a small tank. :)

I find that my Ph will drop as the water ages...
I understand water Ph, will drop as a side effect of the nitrification process.

I been doing smaller more frequent W/C's to keep the Ph a little lower, as I am also 8.0 at the tap...

My african cichlids envious of you guys with high PH from the tap. One of the main reasons I'm planning a 'group' sump for all 3 tanks is to have my water run through 1 whole section of crushed coral.

Grass is always greener eh? I'll trade you some of my acidic coal mine water and you can pipe some of your alkaline battery water up here.
