Ayt bro, thanks, at least im confident now that spangling can still develop at this stage.. Was opting to get a bigger kel with nice markings already but you guys saved me from getting another cichla. Thank you!

ey aren't you talking about lapu lapu? haha. Im Filipino and I love that stuff its a shame that the fish is so nice yet we still eat it
yes sir! its good eating the meat is perfect for steaming, frying, making soup, and even as sashimi! there are now commercial fish farms for grouper/rock cod/lapulapu here in the country. but im sure alot of them are still being fished out. yeah they are beautiful fish indeed. the black colored ones are great and have good markings there is a subspecies which i often see in the fish market and in restaurants and are priced higher than the normal black ones. these guys are beautiful in a tank. red with blue spots. here's an example of them in the fish market.
time for an update! my colombian tems are getting bigger and had some growouts that were too valuable to be eaten so decided to take out the big tems and put them in the pond with my other monocs. plus my sao francisco died he's still in my freezer still cant dispose of him. 
anyway ill post pics after i post this latest feeding vid.. in the tank are 4 + 1 new pleiozona, 3 golden bahias, 5 orinos, 3 wc azuls, 1 sb mono, 2 salvador tems, 1 boettner xingu, and 1 brokopondo.
