Damn! 290 for a huge piece of starphire glass! Awesome!!!!
Yep, exactly my thoughts. Hard to beat $290 shipped.

After many hours of research, I bought a 2inch thick sheet of Styrofoam as well as a can of dry-lock and some concrete coloring. Doing it this way will prevent the massive PH change associated with concrete backgrounds. Cost me around $50, but compared to the money I would have to spend to buy a nice background for my tank, It is worth it. Plus I really like the idea that nobody else will ever have my unique background. Not much to look at now but I will get there. I also stood my rotated my tank back to a normal position and cleaned up the glass and seams. It's all starting to come together now.IMG_6212.JPG IMG_6213.JPG IMG_6217.JPG

Looks great!!!
What silicone did you use to seal the glass?

To seal the glass I used clear Aquarium sealant from glasscages.com because I bought my glass from them and using their brand silicone gave me more peace of mind. If they use it on all their tanks then it should work for me right? On my background and sump however I will be using ge #1 window and door 100% silicon, with no mold inhibitors.

The background looks so far away lol
Yeah the background is kinda messing with my depth perception, I like it cause it almost makes my tank look bigger than it is.

Good call on the glass that was money well spent .
I thought so too, especially after comparing to my smaller tanks where a hint of green can already be seen even though the glass is much thinner

This build has really got me thinking about building a tank like this ,
have you gave any thought about the decorations that you will use .

I'm anxious to see it filled with water as are others I'm sure .
