Any fish that go in here will stay for life. Knowing that I won't keep those. You could probably house a jack demspey or green terror in there for a little while being that they grow slow but eventually they'll need a bigger tank.
I'll talk to my Dad about that. I get the feeling he's going to call it an excuse to upgrade the betta.Which is why you don't JUST put the betta in it.. You build it around the betta.Get some bloodfin and lemon tetras, maybe some rasboras, a few cory cats... You could make a betta very happy..

I'd like to stay away from small cichlids since I have enough of those in the 210.Stick with cichlids that are similarly sized to convicts or smaller.
You can have one (or few depending on aggression) and some schooling fish and set up a nice tank.
Would one of those be able to stay in the tank for life? Tank mates? What about their size, and feeding? Personality? Are they active?Red wolffish!
You don't have much of a choice considering the tank you're working with.I'd like to stay away from small cichlids since I have enough of those in the 210.
Since I can't keep large cichlids that's what I'm thinking. You don't have much of a choice considering the tank you're working with.
Maybe skip cichlids all together then and focus on other smaller fish.
What other fish could I keep with one of those?I think a lot of times we forget that there are fish other than cichlids that can work as center peices haha.
For a while I was considering a ctenopoma acutirostre. Very cool looking fish.
