65g stocking ideas

Ahh yep. Then I semi retract my suggestion, and change it to "low light planted tank without the betta" :D
I'm going to wait for more suggestions or until the thread goes before I start deciding.

Not even a group of 3-4?

Nope, and not just because of the bio load. With 3-4 discus, one will become dominant, and the weakest will get killed. This is especially true if you end up with 2 males and a female. But in any case, 3-4 will whittle down to two, the dominant male and the female he likes. I think you need at least 7 to spread out the aggression, but I would want even more than that. I personally would not do discus in anything less than a 125, and I'd get 10-12 discus.

I nice matched discus pair in a planted tank would be a beautiful setup though. And you could mix in corys and a school of peaceful tetras to complete the look. If I ever do discus again, this is the way I'll go, with a proven pair from someone like discus Hans. Now you're making me want to go and set up a 75...

I've never kept one but they don't get much bigger than 8-10" usually and take awhile to get there. They're active and can be aggressive so tank mates should be chosen with care. Definitely nothing that can fit into their mouth. Maybe some jewel cichlids and polypterus to go with one? I think polys maybe get too big tho....hmm

Check out YouTube videos of red wolves

Why did you ask me to look at videos of them? Now I'm going to have to get one...

I was talking with jaws about polys because I was considering getting a few and he said a 40br would be enough for a couple small ones like senegals. This tank has a very similar footprint. I think the tank's footprint is about 34" x 21-23". I swear I posted the dimensions somewhere on this forum, but I can't seem to find them, and I don't want to go outside to measure it at 11pm.

I'm thinking a wolf, senegal, jewel pair, and an L47 pleco. I think it would be a good mix if the aggression is minimal.

Should I try fake or real plants? Do any of these fish peck at/eat them?

Don't worry Kittiee Katt Kittiee Katt , I got bit by the convict bug so I will have a planted tank by the end of the year...
My science fair project will be on aquariums - my glorified excuse to upgrade the betta. He'll go into a 12" cube acrylic tank. So don't worry about him either... He's getting a bigger tank too.

Haha cool fish aren't they? I've always wanted one but whenever I had free tank space I could never find one. And when I didn't have a tank they had them at the LFS. of course.

I think that's a good stocking list. You should be fine in terms of aggression but nothing's ever a guarantee right!

As far as I know those fish should all be fine with plants. I think the wolf and polys will appreciate the cover.

I think p. Palmas doesn't get as big as senegals? A bit harder to find though.

I was looking at one of those, but I know very little about ploys so I don't know about how hard each one is to find.

I was also looking at P. ansorgii, but from what I've read they're very hard to come across.
