That is one awesome cat! I've wanted one ever since I saw it on river monsters but there's no way I would be able to house such a beast. What are your long term plans for it when it starts outgrowing it's current tank and any future tanks?

Good question. I always joke about having a Monster BBQ when it gets too big. I just shot some pic's to a few local MFKers saying the Goonch is really growing. It's in a 210 and it's touching the front and back at the same time so it's 2' for sure, not including the streamers.
I've been planing to take apart a couple 125's I have saved, using the glass to make a 6X6X2 using the 125's and a plywood/fiberglass bottom. That would be 500+ gallons. The fish doesn't move much, it's not a huge concern at the moment but another foot and it will be too late.

awesome fish man... i have 2, ones about 12" and the other is about 16" ... got them on massivores now, and your right, they are extremely aggressive eaters... mine practically wrench the tongs out of my hand when they feed

amazing fish man... I'm going to grab one once I see another one for sale. I have a special box of money I'm using to save for it... just says "GOONCH CASH" lol

i absolutely love them, but if your looking for a fish thats active and out all the time, these arent the best choice. Being more nocturnal, as most catfish are, these guys stay under driftwood all day, but when the lights go off they come out and explore. They seem slow, but thats not the case... when foods around they search vigorously, and when they find it they show very explosive power and movement to get it... really a very unique and powerful fish ... another sign of their power and swimming ability is when i turn out the lights for a little while i catch both of them swimming directly in front of my 1600gph water circulator thats at the bottom of the tank for them... they dont even breath heavily and seem to handle being in that strong current better than the ATF's or my Dorado

Mine is in a 210 filtered just with sponge filters. I keep the water in the low 70's. I think im going to bite the bullet and get a 300. Fully background it and put a huge pump and maybe a 125 for a sump. This guy is over 2' now. When its nose touches the front of the tank the tail is folded over touching the back. I think it would like a larger home and lots of currents to swim in.

Over all a boring cat IMO... A very strong feeder though. Scared Kevin Fleming when he was watching my fish while I was on vacation. I feed the Goonch every couple days and I hadn't feed it for about a week when Kevin took over for my vacation. Then he didn't make it the first day and when he finally fed this fish it was very hungry! I have foot long tweezers for feeding and the cat pounded the food enough to make Kevin Jump hahaha. I wish I saw it.........

That's actually when I hand fed it, that's why I jumped LOL I want all my fingers!
