I would go 8ft.. just make sure the floor can support the extra lbs. And build a taller stand for easier access to sump/filtration. Clown loaches love the height as well.. I used to have a group of cl's in a 6ft tall tank.. loved seeing them zip up and down.
Thanks for the link to your video.
Thinking back on it, I guess I remember people saying footprint is more important than height, but yeah it makes sense that they can use the height as well.
I just thought about how 24" is only 2" higher than my current tank and i can tell my fish would enjoy a way taller tank.
I'm limited by what I can fit through the door, which I think is 30". Anything bigger would have to be built here or I guess lifted by crane to go through the sliding living room door, which is out of my budget.
I have to research the weight issue but good news is I have concrete floors in this building.
The biggest thing would be depth front to back. As long as you can reach the back from the front you'd be fine. If it was 4' deep it'd be a pain to maintain the back half of the tank without climbing in.
What would you think is the max width you'd be comfortable having no side access to?
I'm starting to think the wall to.the right is a better idea if I'm willing to get rid of the table. Wall is 8ft there I think and a few inches could stick out, but I'd worry about scratches there as people would walk right by there upon entering my place.
The right side of the tank would be accessible as well as the front with that orientation.
24" height:
These Tsunami tanks at 24" are so cost effective.
350 Gallon Acrylic Aquarium
96 x 36 x 24 Acrylic Thickness: 1/2" all sides, top and bottom
Starts at $2,508.99
I'd have to read more to figure out if I'd be comfortable with the 1/2" thinkness. I think I read a thread where someone had no problems with the tank but I also recall other threads where people said they'd rather bump up to 3/4" just for extra piece of mind.
