The background in the tank finally in place. The polyurethane seams are off course also painted with back epoxy and after that black sand is put on top of the epoxy. The overhang is not installed yet.

And the left side, also without a large part of the overhang.

And the background nearly ready with both of the overhangs installed. You can see the PUR used to attach the overhangs to the rest of the background.

To prevent to much upwards lift when filling the tank I made also some little holes in the overhang. So when filling, the little pools in the overhang have the same water level as the tank. With larger water changes and low water level in the tank the pools also drain through these little holes preventing the overhangs to collaps because of the water weight in the little pools.

Great Progress!

I'm inspired to try this on a little 30G that i have [mostly plants and small Danio Tetras Corys and Shrimp]

There will be some plants in the tank. I saw some nice E. Bleheri in a LFS nearby and asked if he could set them apart for me. Which wasn't a problem. Very excited how it will go with the daylight they will be receiving. Already bought some eichhornia as floating plants. They're in the pond outside at this moment.

In the second week of Juli I'm off for a holiday to Thailand, and I want to have some Corydoras sterbai in the tank before that. Got someone to keep an eye on the tank, and it has some time to cycle-in.

A picture without daylight and only a 70 Watt HQI light.
Quite dark. But it will be lighter when the white quartz sand is in.
On the bottom you can see some low crates used to grow plants.
RO water will be supplied by a PVC pipe in the plenum under the crates.

View from above on the plenum. Some clothe will be put over the crates to prevent sand falling in. Then a layer of about 8-10 cm fine quartz sand and the bottom is ready.

Depending on how the plants will be doing I'm thinking of adding some pottery clay close to the plant roots when the tank is running.
