75 Bichir Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That would be hit or miss, it would depend on their personality. Plus, 4 Bichirs are going to get BIG. At least a foot a peace. The ornates, 2 feet (they will get there in captivity) so you might want to call it good unless you are planning of a much bigger tank in the future.

thanks a lot beblondie. So how about 1 ornate, 1 senegal, 1 deheiz, 1 palmas? Could I get more bichirs?

nope, that's alot of bichir for a 75gallon tank.
bichir max size
ornate 2' 1"
delhezi 1' 2"
senegal 1'
palmas 1'

and spiny eels are very agrresive to each other so i wouldn't put 2eels in the same tank.
if you put a fire eel or tire track eel, it wil be crowded. fires get up to 2' and tires get up to 2' 6"

for a 75gallon, only 2 bichirs are suitable.
for 4bichirs you'll need a minimum of 125gallons

ummm; maybe you can put 3 of the smaller bichirs. the delhezi, senegal, and palmas but don't put any other fish in it. including the eels.
if you want the eels, 2bichirs, and 1eel.

look at my signature!
i'm doing a 125gallon carnivore mix.

well, 2bichirs in a 75gallon is kind of BORING.

silver dollars are the cousin of the LARGE pacus, but silvers only get up to 6" so a school of maybe around 4 will be nice!
how about this then...2 bichirs and 4 silver dollars.
or did you want 3 bichirs?
if you're getting 3 of the smaller bichirs, get only 3 silver dollars then.
although silver dollars like to be kept in a chool of 5 or more...it'll work.

keep the lights low, for the "mini-pacus"!

and although silver dollars look like(and are related to!) piranhas, they are herbivores so get them a pelleted diet. and vegetables!
but the bichirs are carnivores.

and "mini-pacus" are generally mid-swimmers.

but for your 75gallon, i'm thinking 2bichirs, 3 silver dollars, and 1 small pleco.
and maybe one of the smaller omnivore catfish such as the pictus catfish and white-tip shark!
if i were you this is what i would do:
-1 delhezi bichir
-1 senegal bichir
-3 silver dollars
-2 white tip shark(catfish)

read the whole thing, he's passing on the spiny eels
gosh...
