nate, it's not that the pipes would be far out. This acrylic tank has 4inches of flat rim from outside edge before you can drop anything down into the water.Look at John's pics in #14 of my other thread:

His last pics show how how the tank is made. all rims are 4inches.
The J-pipes CAN'T go directly in main tank, bcuz they are made for a straight drop..
I started a new thread in the DIY forum, asking specifically for ideas on the out-take/input J-pipes replacement.
I could start one canister the way John has his, but I really want to end up with both of them going in the main tank.
