Any ideas on cichlid tanks for a 75 gallon?

A CA Stock -
Convicts - How many
Firemouths - How many
Jack Dempsey - How many

Groups of personal fish?
Possible? Fish such as FH, texas, etc.

A SA Stock -
1-2 Severum
2-6 Angels
2-3 Keyholes

Thoughts on stocks? Most are probs overstocked but would like to know how to change the numbers to make better stocks.

If you are doing Central American cichlids I would steer clear of overstocking. With africans it's typical but CA get much bigger and you would need a lot more space. If you are going with a Jack Dempsey there's a chance it will not tolerate any other tankmates in a 75 but some you can keep firemouths and convicts with. I know less about SA cichlids but I'm pretty sure they play quite a bit nicer with others so mixing those three might work except the angels will probably pair off and get quite mean while breeding.

oh forgot to mention, all same-sex angels, ill start off with a large group then thin them down as they pair off keeping only the males.

That's a good idea. I don't see why they wouldn't get along but again i've never personally tried the combination. I once had a family member buy me fish and put them into my aquarium without me knowing so there was 2 male paradise gouramis, a pearl gourami, and my little sister threw her betta in because she didn't feel like taking care of it and the only aggression came from some tetras  so it really just depends on the fish's personalities.

Wow, tetra? I would never have expected that. Any thought on numbers of fish for the SA stocking?

In a 75 you could do 2 severums, 4 angels, and 3 keyholes easily. I'm also one to stock a little more than I should so maybe you should get a second opinion. I've heard of them going both ways where the angels harassed a severum or a severum harassed some angels but growing up together might help them be more tolerant if you get them all small. I know very little about keyholes so hopefully someone else can give more input on that.

You're welcome. I currently have a 1" baby of some sort of CA sold to me as an electric blue jack dempsey. Can't exactly figure out what he is but the Central Americans are definitely worth it even if you can't keep as many fish. Didn't like it when I found out he will probably not be able to have tank mates but after having him for awhile I love him and don't regret it one bit. He has a huge personality and is the most beautiful fish i've ever owned so CA are definitely worth considering.

Arent the electric blue variant of fish supposed to be more passive, I know that's the case in EB acaras vs blue acaras. EBJD definitely a beautiful fish. Have fun with it.

They are known to be much more passive. Some are even community fish but after some research found out they are very delicate and if he is a real EBJD (Which I doubt) he is likely to die from digestive issues or sickness before adulthood unfortunately.
