75 gallon stocking question

I would get a nice large Oscar. Oscars are better than Midas. they are both nice. but i personally like Oscars more.
 
post a thread in the cichlid section saying that and watch the bashing begin. Its obvious that the oscar is your first fish as it was mine and i was the same way but that lasted for about 1 year and i havent owned a oscar in forever. They are nothing but a waste of bio load in a tank. The get diseases very easy from poor water which is therir fault since they are such a dirty fish. Midas are very smart fish where oscars are the dumb dog who plays in traffic. Now there are some nice oscars on here, rich_one has a nice albino and thats as far as my compliments will go for an oscar. Midas and the whole amph family are top 3 best species of cichlids.

Is it actually proven than oscars are somehow less intelligent? The midas cichlids I've had have been rather dull, not in any way particularly intelliegent compared to oscars for example. Also, Midas also take up a big part of the bioload....this stuff is as much your opinion as that of the guy who prefers oscars over midas. I've had both, and have found Midas to be much less interesting than oscars in terms of personality, appearance, etc but that's just my personal opinion.
 
The good thing about oscars is you can have other fish in the tank with it. Every Red Devil i've owned was a killer. Maybe Midas might be a little different, i've never owned one. To me Oscars are very bland.

Midas are killers. Oscars can be killers but most Oscars are not.
