So tomorrow I am going to check out a 75 gallon tank setup that as long as it has no cracks etc I will be purchasing. Even though I don't know i'm getting it 100% i've pretty much decided that after it cycles I want the stock to be 1-2 large fish rather than several mid sized fish. Here's a list of considerations and a few fish that I don't want:

Considering:
Green Terror (Frontrunner at this point)
Native Tank (Crappie & Bream)
Tiger Oscar (Don't flame, not sure if this tank would be sufficient or not that's why I'm asking)
Jaguar Cichlid (Same as Oscar)
Jack Dempsey (Meh, not all that impressed)

- Will probably add a hi-fin spotted pleco in addition to whichever of these

Don't want:
Midas
Red Devils
Severums
African Cichlids

- Standard 75 gallon dimensions, approx 4' x 19" footprint

I feel like the Jag is probably pushing it. If I were to go with a GT would there be any room for anything else? Or would my best bet just be to stick with him and a pleco? I respect everybodies input and of course if anybody has any other suggestions I will take them in to consideration, doesn't have to be just cichlids thats just kinda how the list came out haha.

Green Terror would be a sick center piece...paint that back black!

Oscar big bio load.

Jag = too big

I figured as much on the Jag, the setup comes with an AC110 and Rena XP3 so i don't think the bioload will be that big of an issue, but I do really really like the looks of GTs when they get big

1 neon tetra and 1 cory cat. Anymore and you'll be overstocked. I hope you have enough filtration for that. Xp4 for bio and Fx5 mech should be OK...given that you do 2-3 w/c per week to keep nitrates down.

That's plenty of filtration to put just about whatever fish you want in there!

Get a Green Terror from a good source to limit the headaches of having to cure a notoriously sickly fish. An adult GT would make a fine centerpiece.

Agreed. You could do that and try to find a nice male jack. Some dithers and pim's for the bottom. You can always just figure out what you want for final stocking and buy a bunch of juvies to grow out and pick out the ones you like. I think the gt and jd would have nice color contrasts.

The 2nd and 4th options would need a larger tank. I chose other: Midas (pure Midas, not Midevil).

Edit: Sorry, I didn't read the OP. So why don't you want a midas or devil? I guess instead, I'd go with a V. argentea or a Chocolate cichlid (or a pair of either of them).
