75 standard vs long

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
13" depth severely limits the fish you can put in there, if you want any fish 6" or greater go with the standard, a 13" depth imo permits small fish, nothing big.

If you want small fish you for your answer above^^

the tank is 18 deep, but only 13 tall. The problem I'm having is the weight. The house I will be staying in it will have to be on the first it second floor. I know they get kind of tall, I could try for something custom maybe 60 x 18 x 21. I'm trying to get him to mate with an amph. Xilo but it may not be a permanent tank mate.

It would be perfect if the 75 long was 72x16x16. But it isn't so I would do a standard 75 gallon.

Yeah, I was just hoping it was a tad taller, they custom make tanks so that is always an option. If not I can still go with a regular 75 but I'll skip his mate.
standard 75s are perfectly fine. a custom would be beter but there is no need when you can get a standard that is almost as good for half the price.

Would a 72 x 16 x 16 be more appropriate for a full grown FH, it works out to approximately 80 gallons which is something I could swing.
It would cost about the same to get a 72x18x21 or a 72x24x24 as a custom 72x16x16 so I would just get a standard 125 or a 180 instead of a costum 80 gallon.

The issue I have is with weight, I'm supposed to have a maximum 75g. I can get away with the 80 the others are just to heavy. I got a price quote of $500 shipped to my house with glass tops. Not a horrible deal and something I'd be interested in. If I'm going to go this route anyways it does not have to be 6 foot long, I could go 5 foot something like 60 x 16 x 16 for around 65 gallons. Just trying to get the most optimal environment since the tank could end up housing a pare of mates.
