i def. want a yellow tang.....about how many fish would be good in a 75......rough estimate because i know it depends on how big each one is

when you first start off,you are going to use cheap fish to cycle the tank. That could take from 4to6weeks. Don't rush the cycle.Saltwater takes a little more time than a fresh water tank.

it REALLY depends what you want
since you want a yellow tang no matter what:
(clownfish, damsel, goby sized fish) maybe like ten, depending on filtration and species agression.
(for tang or butterfly sized fish) maybe like 5-6

thanks that kind of gives me an idea of how many i can get

depending as well on habits of course

if your doing an eel you may not be able to have coral because they may eat it as a sorce of food. i know it has been done be4 but i have never seen it. i like the firefish. they have color and you can have more then one. another fish you could add at the end would be a royal gramma. they are growing in popularity but tend to be a bit aggresive! a yellow tang would be another good candidate but i would let your tank settle out first. like 5 months in. also be sure you have a good source of hair algae for them and offer freeze dried seaweed.

Eels eat coral, Is that right?:screwy: I have three and have researched them all, never heard of this EVER. Knock it over sure, break it while swimming, sure, but eat it...Nope I disagree.

Yellow Tangs can get very aggressive and will outgrow a 75g tank.

My 2 cents....in order
A few Damsels, I like them and they are hardy and active..easy to care for.
1 Large Maroon Clown or a pair set.
Small Niger Trigger...small one as they grow REAL SLOW! But will max around 10-12".
And a passive eel...snowflake
Any 1 dwarf angel..my choice Flame Angel. Territorial and 1 angel per tank
A nice Butterfly...Heniculatus, Threadfin, Racoon. Once tank has some age on it.

You would have anice variety tank that would be easy to feed with Spectrum and raw shrimp.

so i could have an eel with corals? and could i really not have a yellow tang?.....from what ive read they dont get that big and are fine in a 75
