After looking into this list and looking at the dimensions of the tank. I would think that the Clownfish would need a good place to hide. Although this is a BIG tank I think that it should be bigger if you wanted to house Black Tip Reef Sharks. Just my two cents.

i'm not that educated when it comes to stocking...but are puffers, angelfish, lionfish and mandarins really that good of a combination? I'd be scared to be a mandarinfish in that tank. Also, when I started my "Touch Pool" thread, I read that bonnetheads like to school, so wouldn't a group of 3+ be better? And wouldn't the same apply to Barracuda as well?

That is a big and diverse list of fish... I do not play on the salty side of the hobby but I think it may need to be paired back a bit. Zoodiver Zoodiver any thoughts here?

I've been working on a draft for the fish list. The numbers in ( ) specify the quantity considered. Any feedback is appreciated:

  • BLACKTIP REEF SHARK (2) will test every other fish in the system and will outgrow it.
  • WHITE TIP REEF SHARK (1-2)
  • BONNETHEAD SHARK (1-2) will need a larger system long term and is difficult to move
  • SMOOTHHOUND SHARK (1) more than likely not temperature compatible
  • ATLANTIC SHARPNOSE SHARK (1) way too high strung and will completely freak out resulting in death with this fish list.
  • JAPANESE LEOPARD SHARK (1) likely not temperature compatible
  • ZEBRA SHARK (1-2) will get too large for the tank but fairly easily rehomed
  • BLUE SPOT STINGRAY (1) lunch for the above sharks if it doesn't die with its difficult nature
  • BARRACUDA? (1-2) I would suggest not getting these guys just on the premise that they are complete piscivores and you plan on getting teleosts
  • WHITE GRUNTS/FRENCH GRUNTS good tankmates
  • GROUPER (RED GROUPER/MALABAR GROUPER/GOLIATH GROUPER/GAG will eat anything that fits in its mouth.
    GROUPER/BLACK GROUPER/TIGER GROUPER/BLUELINE GROUPER/POLLEINEI GROUPER)
  • SQUIRREL FISH
  • COTTONWICK
  • BLUE JACKFISH
  • GARABALDI (1-2) may not be temperature compatible
  • MONO ARGENTUS (SCHOOL)
  • CLOWN TRIGGERFISH/RED TAIL TRIGGERFISH/QUEEN TRIGGERFISH can be problematic fish with elasmobranchs
  • ANGELFISH (EMPEROR ANGEL/FLAME ANGEL/CORAL BEAUTY) can be problematic fish with elasmobranchs
  • LIONFISH (PTEROIS RADIATA/Black and Red Pterois volitans) I prefer not mixing lions with sharks, rays or groupers that could eat said lionfish
  • RAINBOW PARROT FISH
  • CLOWNFISH more than likely lunch
  • MANDARINFISH lunch
  • MANTIS SHRIMP lunch
  • ACHILLES TANG/BLONDE NASO TANG/YELLOW TANG/ATLANTIC BLUE TANG although they maybe good filler fish, can be problematic with elasmobranchs
  • PUFFERFISH (PORCUPINE/BLACK PUFFER)
    Problematic with elasmobranchs

The tank and the equipment are finally in!! Though it took incredible effort and manpower to place it in its final position. I will post some photos later this week.
