Crappie can easily be bullied by your bass so get your bass some larger sunfish species such as rock bass, pumpkinseed, green sunfish, bluegills, redears or warmouth.

Pumpkinseed aren't bigger than Crappie...
Though a warmouth or green sunfish would look really nice with with a LMB

And the tank looks great! He looks very happy

None of those fish grow as large as crappie, save for the black basses crappie are the largest members of the Centrarchidae family. The other sunfishes are perhaps a bit more pugnacious and able to hold their own against a LMB though IME LMB are not terribly aggressive anyway.

nice LMB!!!!!

Yes a 7lb bass would be pushin it in a 250ish tank, but not many people are going to manage to keep one that long...not all bass in nature get that large, and not all Bass in aquaria will either.
I'm not saying it can't happen, but I am saying that you would probably be safe waiting to cross that bridge when you come to it, if you even get that far.

:iagree: Most LMB that grow that big are either very old or are Florida strain. A captive raised northern LMB at 24" would be a very special specimen, and this one looks alot like a northern. In a typical in home aquarium I wouldnt expect one to exceed 20" over the span of about 3 years or more. Not saying it couldnt grow bigger, just a little unlikely. Its hard, if not impossible, to duplicate the habitat they have in nature. As long as your final tank is 24" wide or more and you dont add any other large fish, I think you could pull it off.
