feed your oscar quaity pellets (hikari cichlid bio-gold+). its expensive, but worth it. supplement his diet with sinking carnivore pellets, algae wafers, frozen blood worms and freeze dried krill. I use hikari, just read the label and make sure the blood worms and krill have vitamin additives. Resist the temptation to feed live fish or worms, your oscar will eventually get sick.

you could get away with one convict in addition to your oscar. tetras, barbs, corys; they'll all eventually get eaten.

Or you could feed piscine mysis shrimps, which that is the only brand i feed cause of how healthy it is. and its whole shrimp and not packed with water.

I agree with everything but the pictus cats. They can get 6''-8'' full grown. Pictus cats are active open water swimmers, and are more preditory then bottom feeders.

Also no corries-the O will out grow and can die from trying to eat one. Corries have a spine on the dorsal fin.

Oscars will try to eat Pictus cats too, if they are small enough . . . my 8" oscar inhaled a 4" pictus cat, then spit it out . . . catfish was dead . . . a few weeks later he inhaled another pictus cat, and swallowed it . . . spines on the catfish killed him from the inside . . . nasty

I have an Oscar and 6 Silver Dollars in my 75. But I also have an emperor 400 HOB filter with a 75 Gallon Wet/Dry from Pro Clear that runs at around 400 GPH. So my tank is way over filtered and I feed my O and the SD hikari food sticks (arow on the bag) and hikari massivore. I have had these fish all in this tank for around 8 months now and the oscar is just over a year since I got him. I also do around 75% weekly water change to keep everyone happy and i skip at least one feeding day a week. Hope this helps you out. You will enjoy your oscar very much once you get him.

Good advice given, one o, weekly waterchanges after testing for nitrates and sufficient filtration, with a varied diet, will keep an o happy and healthy.
Mine both can be handfed and i have to push the oscars away by hand, to handfeed my gar.
If not they will eat his feeder fish as well.

yea but you have a 75 gallon sump on a 75 gallon tank

even if its a w/d its still at least an extra 20 gallons of tank volume

ive got 2 O's in a 75. theyre both abt 10 inches. ive got them with 6 gouarmis and a pleco. im runnin 2 400's and do 15% water changes every other week. they are all fine together. i wouldnt do feeders. i feed mine brine shrimp and they steal pleco wafers when they can. do what you think your tank can handle
