Not a fan of ExodonsHave you thought about a small school of Exodon? Very aggressive eaters. No solo fish as you asked, but I just thought I’d bring it up.

Cool, piranhas are awesome. I should mention that the tiger barbs probably won’t last past when the piranhas pass the 4-5 inch mark. That’s a beautiful looking fish. Thanks for suggesting though but I went ahead with some red bellys and tiger barbs, can’t wait to see them grow
I’ve read that tiger barbs help to keep piranhas active. The piranhas have already nibbling on their finsCool, piranhas are awesome. I should mention that the tiger barbs probably won’t last past when the piranhas pass the 4-5 inch mark.
They are good for that, but in a confined space, the piranha will eventually catch the barbs. Only dithers I’ve seen work long term are exodons or convicts, but both can be a danger to the piranha and tend to go poorly.I’ve read that tiger barbs help to keep piranhas active. Yeah one on one is a completely different story when it comes to piranhas. Also, sorry about your lossThey are good for that, but in a confined space, the piranha will eventually catch the barbs. If you are interested in long term tankmates, the only one I can say works is banded leporinus. I’ve kept with both pacu and piranha over the years. The 3 pacu ignored the 3 of them, and years later when I only had one my piranha was always scared of it until about the last two months when he but it’s eye off. If the piranha didn’t die first, I wouldn’t have a leporinus, but it was able to hold its own for a year until I lost the piranha. They are strong, fast, and don’t take crap from anyone, but that was just one on one, schools are probably a different story.
I guess the moral is that bigger mean fish do better than schooling ones long term. Every piranha is different though.
Thanks for sharing man, I need to be careful about the water chemistry tooOne piranha is still mean though. He destroyed a Texas and 4 Buenos tetras in about 3 days (while only about 3-4 inches).
I wouldn’t be so upset about the piranha if I know how he died. One day he was healthy and eating, and was dead the next day. No marks, no choking, and I doubt it was water chemistry because the other leporinus was fine and piranhas are quite resilient to that.
