770 Gallon Monster Setup

Wow sure looks great. Live the large tank were the fish don't just swim and hit the side of the tank and then swim to the other side. These guys really have some room to move in. Great stock all looking great. Really like the school of Widebars I might have to look into some.

I like the widebars too; always moving around. After seeing Doviiman's video of his school, I had to get some. They aren't as skiddish as regular SDs or Red Hooks, which I like, although in the video they do get startled at one point. My only issue with them is that they are pigs...you have to dump a ton of food in there to make sure everyone gets some. Trying to keep slower eaters with these guys would be a challenge.

Here's a feeding video:

And about quarantine anymore I figure some fish are just more ich crazy than other others. So I give fish about a week Or two anymore and after that they go into the tank. Example mono peacock bass in my 125 moved to a 55 and I put 55 gallons of water from my 125 into that tank and did a filter swap moves the already going fx5 onto that tank and it still looked like he got ich but I put some salt in and turned up the heat and all gone in a day. seems funny. Keep the pictures and video coming  some fish are pigs you should see a bass I have. It's crazy. Once again love the green terror I might need to get one and grow to full size.

thats awsome. you need to get about 50 guppies and let them breed out the tank. after that go fishing and throw in a largemouth bass

Hi dont know if you solved your heater problems i kind off skipped to the end after reading the first 30 pages
I live in denmark and can only say electricity here cost more pr kw :irked:
I have tryid 4 different glass heaters including the jaeger and the most effecient is a cheap chinese stainless steel aquarium heater called choson, its rated 300 w but only pulls around 240 watt according to my power measurer,i bought 5 x 300 watt jaegers and they all pulled around 315-345 watt, the cool /hot thing about it is 2 x 240 watt choson(cheap china unit) gives the same amount off heat as 3 x 300 watt jaeger or any off the other glass types i have tryid,i dont know if the difference is in the heater housing becourse all i have tested have been glass ecxept for the stainless choson, maybe stainless steel is better for transporting heat ?
Due to electric prices here im now working on a kind off floor heating system in my sump powered by the danish fjernvarme that is hot water connected to my house from a public powerstation normally only used for heating off houses, but it only cost 1/3 off electric heating,i have to heat about 850 gallon tank and 300+ gallon sump.

By the way very aquarium you got i looke forward to see more pics and to see what kind off fish you are going to get.

It's amazing how effective raising the temp and adding a little salt is for treating Ich. Works like a charm.

AWESOME tank, i'm loving the smaller schooling fish, making me rethink the stocking in my tank lol.

I'm happy with the way things are turning out. Once they are all full size, the tank will look pretty well stocked.

It's illegal to take a fish live from any body of water in California...otherwise I probably would be keeping large mouth bass.

Shouldt have been : by the way very NICE aquarium you got,sry its kind off late here ;-)

Thanks.

awsome tank how much did it cost lol?

PM sent.

I'm using 6 300W Eheim Jager heaters for a total of 1,800 Watts. It's interesting your Kill-o-watt readings were > 300W for the Jagers. When all of my heaters are on, my Kill-o-watt reads 1,560 watts, but when I plug each one into the kill-o-watt individually, the reading is ~285W. It doesn't make much sense...the math doesn't add up. But in any case, if the other heaters you mentioned are drawing less watts, that probably means they are putting less heat into the water. I don't believe that there is such thing as an efficient electric heater. The heating element is adding energy/heat into the water in the amount of watts that the heater is drawing. I'm guessing that the heaters that are drawing less watts than what they are rated for would take longer to heat your tank than if they were actually drawing 300 watts.

But in any case, when it's really cold (e.g.: 32F), the heaters will use about 10KWhrs per day. Now that it's starting to warm up, the heaters are only drawing 3 or 4 KWhrs per day. I think when June rolls around, the heaters won't be on at all since summers are very hot here.
