  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was running both pumps when I took the video, so it's loud from the sound of water crashing down into my sump...headphone users turn down the volume.

I see that tank is still looking good.
Those WB are going to be a nuisance soon enough. Trust me they are pigs, they just don't eat other fish, but feeding them is like feeding P bass, they will eat, eat, and then eat some more if you let them. I have watched mine take food out of other fish mouth. lol

I'm glad you got away from the goldfish :)

Awesome stock and awesome tank!

Thanks Egon.

Thank you. Now that they are starting to put on some size, I think I may have overdid it...too many fish.

Thanks, I love the schooling too. Fell in love with the Widebars when I saw them schooling in doviiman's tank.

Speak of the devil...What's good man? It's been a while.

You aren't kidding about the bottomless pits that are Widebars. When I first got them I tried feeding them until they wouldn't eat anymore; I decided to stop because I was worried they would eat themselves to death. They hit the first pellet just as eagerly as the 30th- insatiable pigs!

Awesome tank! I just read the whole thread and my 450 seems so small now lol! Love those wide bars and I want to get some as well.
I have a suggestion concerning how much they eat - and I may get flamed for it but hey.
I used to feed 'bottomless pit' fish like those a good portion of what we give mans best friend - Dog Chow. Yep, fills em up and is one hell of a lot cheaper than fish food. For smaller fish I used to break it up a bit with a hammer. My fish always looked fantastic, never got sick and grew like weeds. Once the piggies have filled up for the most part, you can throw in your standard fish food to top them up.

Yes, they are. lol, I have resulted to feeding them feed store pond food for my group, if not thery would eat me out of a home trying to buy massivore pellets. Not to mention i only feed every other day. I will post some updated pic of my tank soon. All my babies are all grown up now and makes the tank look really small.lol

Watching this tank makes me want to add something schooling to my set up, sadly finding something that won't nip my Geos fins, will get big enough to not be eaten by the aro, and not break my South American theme seems to be impossible here!

haha- the grass is always greener. Seeing your setup makes me want an aro and some geos.

Thanks for the tip. I think sometimes we obsess a little too much about their diet...no flaming from me. Right now though my food bill isn't too bad. I buy the 5 lbs buckets of NLS for ~$50- the larger pellets that I buy are mainly for the Wide bars and that will last me around 5 months.

I know what you mean about the tank looking small. When I stocked my tank with all these little baby barbs, rasboras etc. my tank looked totally empty. Now that they have all put on some size it seems like I have too many fish...even though they are small fish by MFK standards, the tank has definitely filled out.

Looking forward to seeing an update on your tank.
