770 Gallon Tank Stocking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do you guys realize how much light it would take to grow live plants in that tank? 10 feet long and 3 feet deep :WHOA:

put in an arowana, a pacu, 2 pbass, a few medium sized fish (angels, discus), a gazillion of neons and other small characins, and some corys and plecos for the bottom area
plant heavily with amazon sword, cabomba and grass-like plants, plus some water hyacinths as floaters. add lots of driftwood but no stones and have some silk plants hang in the water from above for flooded forest look.
that's what i'd do if i were as lucky as you

edit: @ FSM: you do realize that he doesn't have to plant every inch of the tank? half of the tank could be barebottom, and therefore not as brightly lit

yes I realize that. It seems to me that not everyone is aware of how expensive the lights would be. I agree that it would be incredible if it was planted, just that the price is a major factor.

Kinda small for a full grown pacu, even at that size.

petsmart says they only need 30+ gallons :confused::confused:

about 800 watts of light would do the trick for a vast majority of plants, if you wanted to stick with lower light plants you could get smaller fixtures.

Yes, let's add fish that get 36" long to this tank. Great suggestions guys.

small, yes. but in comparison to what almost every other pacu has to live in, its a kingdom. since most home aquaria red belly will top out under 3' if perfectly cared for it seems, the 36" wide tank would just be enough to turn, but would give him enough to be happy, and give one less fish a horridly cramped life. i dont think that even with the most ideal conditions, many red bellies reach a FULL 3' in home aquaria, if any at all do. i could be wrong tho

you should get the tank and then fill this with pix and then we will talk about stocking
