I would go planted with a pair of apisto's. There are soooo many nice ones to choose from. You may even be able to get away with a couple small tetras.
yeah i am going to look to see if there other small dwarf cichlids. :D

And i can have one dwarf cichlid in a 8gal.

I have a trio of dwarf gouramis in my 12g Nano, along with a small school of endlers livebearers and a spiny eel... they all get along and the gouramis are fun to watch. :)

I was going to go with some apistogrammas but I couldn't find ANY in my area...

^cool i am going to ask my LFS to see what they think. :D

white clouds are imo highly underrated. and alot hardier then most tetras. I have a nice school in my 20H doubt you'de have issues keeping a few in an 8. they're cheap and active.

yt vids don't mean ****, I learned that the hard way, you probably could get away with it, but if I were you, I'd do an apisto, 6 rummynose tetras, and 10 rcs breeding into the hundreds

plant it and call it a day.

Wait why are you using a 200 dollar salt setup for freshwater?

Get a trio of oddball hermits, a nass. snail, a nerite snail, some cool gobies and call it a day

Or goby/pistol shrimp combo

Or juvy mantis, MAYBE

You can get MOST fish on this list http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/...fm?c=15+2124&s=lh&start=1&page_num=1&count=31
