GOOD START! What will be the Stock?

Its 8X4X4. I know i'm going the salt water route. So there will be the "Finding Nemo" fish to entertain my daughter, but I want to find a few rare/exotic types to put in there also. I wanted lion fish, but I don't want them to eat everything in the tank...so I'll keep looking. I'm trying to design a sump filtration system at this point. I want to do it on a budget, but I don't wanna miss any important parts. I want to have an in sump skimmer, UV filtration, the bioballs (of course) and some more stuff. I've been looking into using rubermade storage bins for each of the parts of the sump. getting water to flow between the 3 parts is the challenge. I've also been looking into using a shop light with a UV bulb for the uv filtration...i've seen a few guys talk about pulling that off... at anyrate, what ideas do you guys have?

Here is the update to my aquarium build:

I've installed the glass & Sealed it with an EXCESSIVE amount of silicone. I'm going to use a razor to clean up the excess silicone once it all drys. I'm going to give it a week and i'll fill it up with water....

Very nice

That's awesome man!!

There's really no such thing as a low budget 800 gallon saltwater tank... I don't even want to crunch the numbers for the equipment you're going to need, especially if you want to do corals.
As to your filtration question... the majority of your bio filter is going to be done with your live rock. I also don't want to think about how much rock and sand it would take and what the cost would be for a tank that big...

Build looks very nice so far though! What is your experience in fishkeeping? How many other tanks do you have right now?

I might gently steer you towards freshwater, for the sake of your sanity and wallet, if you haven't done a lot of saltwater stuff before (sounds like this might be the case). You can always do salt later...
