9/11 - please take time to retrospect.

What's that called when "fate" has you in another place & time when an incident occurs & you could have would have been there?

"FINAL DESTINATION" ?!

My wife & I used to take the express bus from brooklyn every moring to work after dropping our kids off at daycare & g/ma's house. Which normally means we are normally late in heading off to work. But on this one day we were earlier than normal, say by 5min. When the 1st plane struck, we were on the express bus that normally passes the WTC on its normal route from downtown to midtown. So much traffic we figured another normal day. We inched forward to get about 4blocks north of the towers when we hear everyone outside yelling a bomb exploded or a helicopter hit the building. This was at 8:55.

Had we been normally late, we would have been on the very exact same bus that would have passed the towers precisely at the time the 1st building collapsed! so many buses including a school bus & many cars were crushed at that time. At that time we were now 1/2 way up towards midtown.

As fate has it we are here today to remember.

May those who perished rest in peace, may those who suffer loss of love ones & friends be at peace, may we all get to live in peace!

thx. I for one knew of a few who perished, not close friends or colleagues but people who I met in business. still has an effect. I can not ever imagine the grief & suffering then & thru the years others have suffered. My cousin witnessed the jumpers. That was so painful for him.

We can forgive but we can't ever ever forget!

Glad that fate kept you safe.

I was home,my son and I were sick with strep. He was watching some kids show when my wife called and said "put on the news".."what channel?"..
"any channel,a plane just hit the world trade center" I tuned in just in time to see the second plane hit.Took a second for my feverish mind to realize it wasnt a replay, the other building was already on fire.Told my wife, till that point the folks at her office thought a cessna had accidentally hit the building.

Never forget.

I was in college still....

Today is always an interesting day at work for me, talking to the kids about this. Their reactions are never predictable.

I worked for the law firm that sold the world trade center, and was stationed there during the deal which only closed about a month before attack. When the first plane hit all I could think of was that Larry Silverstein must be crapping in his pants right now he just bought those towers, and then came the second plane. Really awful I wouldn't say I was tight with any of the people in the building but there was alot of people that I worked with while on that deal that didn't come out that day.

My heart goes out to those whose pain is only rekindled today for the lose of thier loved ones who were either just unfortunate enough to be going about their day when it happened or those that were brave enough to enter after the attack. I won't talk about forgiveness but it is important that those people are not forgotten.

When I turned on the tv that morning, the first thing I thought was that my parents in law were visiting the World Trade Center. Turned out that they had toured the building the day before. Now they wanted to come back home but all flights were cancelled. Several days later, they ended up renting a car and driving back home to Texas.

I was driving over to a friends house to see some of his new fish that he had bought when I turned on the Howard Stern show on the radio and they were talking about it. When I got to his house he had the T.V. on and we both sat there with our jaws on the floor as they showed over and over again the planes hitting the towers and the trade centers collapsing under their own weight. It was a horrible day and the world hasn't been the same since and it never will be again. It was our wake up call. :(

I was still in high school and people started to get text messages that planes had hit the towers. The last text said the towers fell i left class and waited at home as my dad had to walk over the 59th st bridge. The world was never the same after that.

I was finishing some Economic class and walking down the hall to my Environmental Sci class at UMD (University of Minnesota Duluth) and there were people running and huddling around a TV in a small staff room. I poked my head in to find out what was going on.

Can never forget where you were and what you were doing when something like that happens eh.
