i have a little female red tiger mota that he doesnt bother maybe ill put her in there with a little cave or something just incase. i do like her too. yes 11 months, serious. his diet is hikari gold sinking pellets 2-3 times a day in small meals and 2-3 days a week some goldfish.

pretty sure if it took him 11 months to hit 9 hes gonna easily hit 12 in the next few years. i wouldnt be suprised. we will have to see.

I have never kept or seen GT that exceed 10 inch. Faster growth does not change the genetic. Come back with a pic with a scale to proof that he indeed can hit above 11 inch. GT are not piscivorous, so feeding on goldfish is an acquired taste that may change the growth rate.

I did wonder why the live goldfish. To my knowledge rivulatus are omnivorous with insects being a large part of the natural diet.
Maybe that explains the out of the ordinary growth rate.
Mine are in a under stocked 7x2x2 and my male is around the 9inch mark. This has taken 18 months under a water change regime of 50%a week.

stanzzzz7 , wasnt talkin bout u. i just started him on the goldfish maybe 2 months ago btw. idk i just think i lucked out thats all. like alot of people have said on this site, out of a batch of 700 or so fry maybe 20 will be bigger than expected i guess i just got my hands on one of those. that or maybe he had some big a** healthy parents and the genes came through. who knows man you never know with these captive bred cichlids.

GoldFish are a horrible idea to feed your fish. You are taking a risk at parasite infection every time you feed these. If you absolutely find it necessary to feed live, at least get some Convicts or another quickly reproducing fish and use their fry. At least you'll know what your feeding. Also quarantine them for a period of no less than 8 weeks.
