  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i thought pictus cats liked to be in grops of like 5 or more.i might be wrong though. the only problem that i have with you idea is that salvini's arent very common near me. i have never seen oneat my LFS and iv been going there for 8 years.... same with severums. and the pictus cats only get 5 inchs. would they be okay with the aggressive fish?

I keep pictus with my oscar, gts and cons so i think you'll be fine!

kool. but i though that they neeed to be in a group of 5 or more. is that right? how does this sound:

1 normal JD
1 oscar(should i get red or tiger, cant decide!)
1 firemouth
1 blue acara
1 or 2 more cichlids(possibly severums. maybe something else if i find something i like)
pictus catfish(however many they need in a group) OR a solo raphael catfish(they look so kool)!

Raphael's are awesome, I have a spotted one, but they CONSTANTLY hide. You'll never see it. And personally, I think pictus get ugly with size. Make sure you have seen a full grown one before you buy to make sure you like them.

i do like raphaels...but i did hear they hide alot. and i dont mind how the pictus look, they look pretty kool. but did the rest of my stocking sound good?

Pictus are ace, mine are so active and greedy!

The rest sounds great! They should do well. And if you like pictus, get them! When are you putting the tank up?

kool. then i think that is what i will add to the tank for sure. the only thing im not sure about is the catfish. i like that pictus dont hide all the time but i love the look of the raphaels. i think i will add the catfish last so i get more time to decide:) and i dont know for sure when i am getting the tank. hopefully this summer when i get enough money:D and, why does it matter when i am getting it or r u just wondering? and i have a quick questions. plz let me know how this recipe sound for homemade food:

Meat:
shrimp(all natural including shell and legs for extra nutrients)
white fish(whatever is cheapest at the time, they are all good)
clams

Veggies:
spinich(most likley frozen)
garlic
peas
i dont think i need alot of veggies since these fish eat mosly meat

Steps:

blend all meat into thick paste
put in bowl
blend veggies into thick paste
put in bowl
mix both pastes together well
mix with unflavored jello
put on cookie sheet and let set
cut into whatever size pieces you need(depends on size of fish of course:D)
put cubes into ziplock bags and freeze
takeout, thatw and feed as needed

how does that sound? i will feed that everyday in the afternoob at about 3 when i get home. i will feed pellets every morning at about 7:30. then brineshrimp and bloodworms a few times per week with the homemade food in the afternoon. and other good treats like earthworms whenever i get my hands on themXD

Yeah I was just curious as to when we might start seeing pictures!

Being that Raphael are completely nocturnal, hide all the time, and require virtually zero tank space, get one AND the pictus! Win win!

I don't do a whole lot of homemade food recipes so I will defer on that subject.
