90 Gallon FISH options

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
pipe fish should be kept by them selves with sea horses because their very delicate...I see how your primarily interested in predator fish like me....lol. If I had a 90 gallon this would be my stock list.

-Voltains Lion Fish (Red don't really like the black to much....)
-Snow Flake Eel
-Dog Face Puffer
-2 Convict Tangs
-Maybe I can get away with a Red Flag Grouper

Remember a set up like this is going to have a heavy bio load. I would use my Fluval fx5 and protein skimmer. I have a 72 Bowfront and wondering what predators to stock it with...lol

After you finish your thread and believe you got the info and everything I will set one for my 72 lol

well the only thing id like to have for a saltwater tank and it might not fit the 90 gallon are yellow tangs snow flake eel volatians lionfish or even some type of groupers like the red flag..other than that idk im just like everyone else *freshwater fish hobbyist*

I have a dog face puffer already - he was free because he only has one eye!!
Anyway....I was thinking almost the same thing! A Lion, Puffer, Tang/Surgeon, and maybe a snapper or eel....

I have a Marineland multi-stage canister filter model C-360 and will get a protein skimmer....I heard that live rock helps with filtration????

Well I just came home from a week vacation to a tank full of dead rotting fish (I cried) SO! I am making lemonade out of lemons and taking the opportunity of having this open 90 gallon tank to turn it into a saltwater tank like I wanted to in the first place.

Hey Mysticshadow, I've been hearing that people say you should keep tang species by them selves.....I think if you just put eighter one regal tang or 2 yellow tangs your good to go along with the others....Also live rock are great with filtration! More rock more filtration! Also I'm not to familiar with that filter, but you always want more filtration.

Be careful with lionfish! These guys will try to eat any fish they can fit in their mouth. even the smalled fuzzy dwarf lions will happily nom nom nom on your expensive coral banded and skunk shrimps.
be sure to HEAVILY research each and every fish you plan on putting in a community tank.

.......sorry to be tardy-to-the-party, fellas:(.
My 2 cents worth.
