Ya lol i need some change. Worst case if i keep the oscar I might go and get a watermelon pleco. They look cool n i figure with my current filtration and a couple of wcs a week the two could be fine. But thats one option for worst case. I want to do a revamp, just not sure what. The bolt catfish that was suggested looks cool, but im gona keep digging to see what other mystical wonders i could find for my 90 :)

On a side note, would a black piranha be doable? Iv read they grow slow and get to 18" max max, so i mean the biggest he would be is what, say 10-12" after a year? By then i would be moving to my own place where id finally upgrade to a 300+ gallon :)

By watermelon pleco I assume you mean L330 correct? That and an oscar would be to much bioload, l330s are very messy fish that will give you piles of wood shavings to clean up from the driftwood they munch on all day (yes they NEED driftwood with them). Not so sure about the piranha.

Actually I would think a royal pleco or any medium sizes pleco too large to be eaten will do okay; they don't grow that fast and as long as 1) your Oscar is not hyper aggressive, 2) you manage the extra bio load with increased water changes or other methods 3) have driftwood and alter your feeding scheme to include food for your pleco they should do fine. Royals typically grow slowly and as long as they have hiding space, it will do okay for a long time.

But i thought the recommended size for oscars for life is 75g? Or have i been mistaken for the past 2 years :s

Just to clear that up ya its min and your 90g has the same footprint as the 75g so it doesnt make a difference in space just less bioload. 13" is a fairly big fish.

I would do a pleco but the royqls only grow like 1" a year or something crazy and anything larger than like 3" is gonna be expensive. also or maybe a couple of pictus catfish? And if you do a total revamp itll be hard to reccomend anything with out some sort of idea from you. like small community? Med community, single fish species only?

Well in terms of revamp im looking at predatory either single fish or even two, i just want like max size for my tank. I guess my own "monster", well at least one that fits lol

I still think an eclipse cat will work...I have seen large ones but nothing above 13-14 inches..if you want a maxed out doable pred for that tank, size and availability wise it's not a bad choice imo

+1 on the eclipse cat... love the bolt cat too
