90g setup+filtration.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a 90 gallon in my fish room I just re sealed not to long ago I have a Marineland emporor 400 a sponge filter and a aqueon quiet flow 75 and the set up works great and I have some big Central and South American cichlids in there for a grow out the cleaning is simple and quick and it works very well

CarpCharacin CarpCharacin Ahhh, now I realize the silly mistake I made with the sunglasses test. I tried it on my car and it came up with that pattern, so it was tempered. When I tested it in the room there was little to no sunlight. Thank you for clarifying.

I personally never even knew that they made hobs with a skimming feature.
I'll have to think about the pros and cons of a sump system vs a hob for awhile before I come to a conclusion.
Thanks for the advice though.

Now for the resealing of the tank. Glenn238 Glenn238 just stated that he resealed. What did you use?

Anyone have a personal preference to a certain silicone? I've looked at ASI and GE so far.

Be careful what you wish for...

I would drill for a bean animal overflow and do a simplistic sump. I personally like wet/dry. I don't know why in the world someone would recommend a refugium with "humic" substance for a setup like this.

K.I.S.S. would probably be best

Out of curiosity why are you dead set on a skimmer?

celebrist celebrist Yes, that too. My main reason is because I hate seeing dust or particles that have rested on the surface of the water. My fish tends to be quite dirty when eating, so it would be easier imo to clean a filter sock every couple days instead of sticking my net in the tank twice a day.

I've been using a substrate specifically for cichlids. It also does something to the ph, too.
Should I continue using this or is it the wrong type? Link: https://www.amazon.com/Carib-Sea-AC...ocphy=9007172&hvtargid=pla-365245558687&psc=1

Sorry P PYRU , for not replying earlier. Back on Ofish kmuda had a great thread on an experiment which involved adding substances that would be in an oscar's natural habitat.
He used various things like catappa leaves and alder cones by mixing them together in a separate tank. He then added certain amounts into some of his inhabited tanks. I strive to do the best for my oscar and kmuda's reasoning was accurate and sane. Therefore I'm going to continue what he was doing. Now that the forum is gone it will be hard to get that thread back. I will try and get a link though.
