90g Synspilum?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The syn. are one of my favorites in the hobby and its hard to get true syn. I recently got some from someone trustworthy on MFK, thank goodness. If someone is cross breeding them for flowerhorns they should say it before you end up with a tank full of monsters LOL... a year or so back I received 6 juvs and my males ended up 14-15 inches while my females remained 3-4 inches. very disappointing... later finding out they were being crossbreed.

They figured female since it was brought in with a large male. Of course he was sold by the time I called there. lol If it's a hyrid I'm ok with that. I don't plan on breeding her anyway. I decided to keep her as the centerpiece fish and maybe get a group of dithers. Would larger tetras work? Or tiger barbs? I'm not a huge fan of silver dollars or giant danios. She's a bit shy now.. She wasn't shy in the lfs but she was with a large group of fish. Although I didn't get her home until 8pm lastnight..

Good looking fish. I have one close to 9" that has breed in my 180G. It drives me nuts as it will constantly dig in the gravel.

i think the OP fish is a hybrid also, never seen photos of syns with that type of dark horizontal bar, that looks like markings of a bifa. syns seems to have a bar but straight from tail.great looking fish though, nice colors, should make a good centerpiece.maybe try rainbow fish as dithers

It look more like a bifa based on the shape, black line, color and black patches on the body. If the red head is spotted, most likely bifa. If not, most likely is a cross between Bifa and Syn

No spotting on her head.. Here's a video..
