Not to sound like an ass but I feel like I'm getting the typical 'overkill on everywhere possible' lecture. 4 times an hour? I KNOW my 55g tanks' pump doesnt do NEAR that. Its probably only 55gph at the most.... But it gets the job done. I think with the aerator(massive) and the design of my filtration it should be okay. But I am not sure. Thats why I'm here. Would it be OKAY? not "what I would do if I could do anything." I work at Pepboys so I cant really afford to buy some $200 monster of a pump.

I left out more details though. There will be a rock background and a VERY large peice of driftwood in the tanks so the actual gallon count is probably going to be under 300.... LOTS of objects in the water.

I run at least 6x per hour with HOB's. The advice is good, unless you are going to understock.

I didnt even get a great price.... $63.00 after discount... I'm returning it...

SOMEONE SHOW ME A GOOD FILTER PUMP FOR A (max)600g TANK

Thank you very much

Epic Fabrications...interesting name, got to be a story behind that?

Ok, I re-read my post here so before you start reading it, let me preface it by saying nothing here is meant to be sarcastic, just the only way I could figure to answer it.

First off, do a little research on who is giving you advise before you accuse them of giving 'maximum filtering - spare no expense' advise.

Second off, You asked for advise, if you wanted to know the cheapest way to do it say so.

Third off (?) Please give ALL the spec.s / info up front for the most informative / quickest answers.

Fourth off (??) this post worries me in so many ways -

A) nevermind. I'll go through trial and error. without the violent sunrays, high potential of algae build-up, many obstructions and only B) 6 fish or so, I wouldnt see why my "580" gallon would need anymore filtration than a 125 with the same community. C) The only problem I can suspect is the lack of water movement which may lead to growths of unwanted bacteria. This will be corrected with aeration and surface movement. I want a quiet, gentle, natural environment. Not 100 gallons of water disrupting the surface every 30 seconds and the fish being blown in a thousand directions. Its a fish tank, not a fish-jacuzzi. It just needs to be clean. correct?

D) I'm not one for not caring for my fish. I do weekly 50% water changes in the 55 gallon while the Pacu are juvenile. I may adopt a certain Silver Arrowana at the LFS if all goes well with the Pacu... I feed them once a day and have the light on for a period of 6-8 hours (depending on how long I have time to look at them in my spare, non care-taking, time) but at least 6 and at the absolute most, 10.

E) I just don't see the need for military-like standards of filtration. F) Is the Baltimore Aquariums 260,000 gallon tank (inhabited by many thousands of creatures) cleaned with a 1,040,000GPH filtration system... Probably just a very efficient, and advanced filtering set-up.

A) Your going to do it your way, then you ask for more advise, not many going to want to help you now 'cause it would be a waste their time.

B) The Pacu could be 18 " each within a year and they are very dirty fish, plus the others. (mine's 12" in six months)

C) Are we talking anerobic bacteria here?

D) What can I say here, I don't think I've seen this statement on this forum before.

E) ?. Not military...standards - calculated and experienced. This is what we do.

F) Your closest could you check and get back to us? (it's not on their site :( ).

What's 'massive aeration'? In tank? In sump? How 'massive' of airflow are we talking? (did you get the jacuzzi air pump with the water pumps :D , I used one in a 1000g sump once worked great).

I heard good things about the quiet-one pumps. What about them? Seem inexpensive...

The title is because back in the day, my friends and I would build something out of anything. The name stuck. He created a Myspace that I have no afiliation with and having been in contact with him for quite some time. Its not a profession. Just a hobby.

Seems like a good pump, check their depth rating for your use.

I think me means quiet one model 9000, which I think would be ok depending on the height of the return.
