i dont like the sound of that lol i just called a place for a quote on 3/4'' x96x40'' and it was over $1000. so either way i think the 30-36'' hight will be my best bet. do you think if i do i could get away with 5/8th''? the bottom of the tank will be either the 30-36'' but the actuall glass wont span the full top to bottom becasue it will sit about 6'' off the bottom. if that makes sence lol

I bought an AquaArt tank 30" high that used 1/2" acyrlic walls instead of 3/4" . At the time, I was a noob, did not know better (Didn't realize that I had to be a tank construction expert to buy a tank).. Anyhow, it worked fine for a few years, then the top cracked due to excessive pressure on the sides (That's what another manufacturer told me, for 30" high you need 3/4" thick walls)..
Super stressful. I had to have a custom built tank made to replace it, took about a month to build and deliver it.
Very stressful to house fish when the big tank is not usable.

The point is.. Please do not try to save a few hundred dollars in construction. If anything, overbuild.
There's no way I would risk 5/8" if I was you.

Heck, your tank is 48" wide.. Mine was only 24" wide.. You might need more than 3/4" (I don't know, I'm just saying, make darn sure it's adequate).

If you want the tank to look like the bags fish come in use less than 1". 1" for 30" height and 1.25 for 36" height. There's a LFS that has one in those dimensions 36" tall made from 1" material and the seams are crazing like crazy (no pun intended).
