A bad Way to start off my new year!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've had horrible luck using any type of chemicals or salt for ick. Simply increase aeration, increase temp to 86F, and increase water changes to 33%-50% daily. This has been foolproof for me.

This is great advice. The clown loach is scaleless so salt will only make it harder on them and eventually kill them. Chemicals are also harsh on them. Some people have had some luck with 1/2 doses.
I raise the temp to 86 or 87 for 10-14 days and increase aeration and everything worked out. It's important to keep the temp up for atleast 10 days even if the ich spots aren't present because ich has 3 stages, 2 of which aren't visible to the naked eye.
Don't forget to quarantine the newbies!
Sorry for your loss

I've treated Clown Loaches time and again with 2 TBS salt/5 g and 87 degrees without ever losing a single Loach.
<---- off to salute and pay homage to my 16 fat Clown Loaches

WOW! That really is a sucky start to the new year. I've never had clown loaches before but would recommend small dosages of medication with Copper Sulfate in it. We've used it to cure many things on scaleless, and sensitive fish. I've seen some medication on Dr.FosterandSmiths that is safer for scaleless and sensitive fish, but still uses copper sulfate.
So think of that, It's always helped for us. BUT!!! Do your research about it first, like I said, I've never had clown loaches.
