A chinese dragon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's been 6 weeks, and the length is close to 8". It now looks more like a congicus on its upper body, and looks like an endlicheri on its lower body. It even has some dark spots on its belly.

next fish on my list - wierd bichir.

LOL, the bichir farm is much closer to your area than mine. I thought you have higher chance to get weird bichirs than me. I remembered when they started breeding delhezi there were some weird delhezi which showed up only in your area.

Why hasn't it lost its external gills?

I'm not too sure about the mechanism of the external gills. They can exchange oxygen through the external gills. My guess is when there's enough oxygen exchanged via external gills, they can rely on the external gills to acquire oxygen. When they grow bigger, the air exchanged through external gills is no longer enough, and they acquire air from the water surface while the external gills disappear gradually until all gone. That's my guess.:D
