wow....just wow...idk if i want to touch this topic or not, but against all better judgment i'm going to tell you something similar to what i wish would have been told to me when i started out fishkeeping and moderators and forum members can take this as they will but anyway here it goes.
There is no fricken way you are possibly going to breed those JD's in your tank and i really doubt the LFS owner told you to just breed those JD's for her and if she did then she obviously didn't know what kind of tank setups you have. You are going to need a 55 to breed them and your 29 could maybe be used to grow out some of the fry, but anyway, take the JD's back as you can't house them for the long haul at all. I know you think you are going to be getting a 55 gallon tank, but there are a lot of things that can come up between now and a year from now. If you are going to be off living on your own you might not ever have enough money to buy a 55 gallon tank (this is assuming you actually are 18 which through actions repeated over and over again i seriously doubt this at this point in time). I know you've had a hard life, and i'd never say anything if i didn't think it necessary for your eventual happiness or your fish's happiness, but you need to stop being so self centered about your fish. You aren't thinking about the happiness of your fish and only thinking how cool it would be to have so and so fish you've seen.
Get rid of the JD's first of all, then decide if you like your cons enough to keep them, if you decide you like other fish better, then (without buying ANYTHING more) look over every kind of fish you have availible to you from the various stores in your area and pick out the fish that you like the most as long as it will fit in your current setup (29 gallon) and then live with the choice you have made.
If you give the fish you pick out enough time and stop changing everything on it I'm sure you will finally appreciate this hobby for what it is, or learn that you like lots of change constantly which then you might want to look into some other hobby that would suit your likes and dislikes more closely, but chances are you will find that having a good setup is a lot of fun and you will have a lot better experiences, not to mention less flaming in your threads and alltogether should end up a lot happier.
If I would have listened to advice like that when i was at the same stage as you in fish keeping I think i would be much happier right now. Even now i sometimes don't practice what i've so far preeched, but just attempting to commit to some fish i like has really started me on the correct path so far, and i'm slowly learning what exactly i can do with what setups i have, and yes you can always hope to get a larger tank later in life (i hope to get a 150 sometime this summer) but you can't bank on it until it has happened.
I'm sure you will just pass off this post of mine like you have in the past and not listen to a word i've said, but just try to listen and don't do the normal thing where you listen for a very short while or argue that your current stock is fine, do the right thing and you will end up happy and i personally will be very proud of you.
