Thanks, I'm definitely keeping this one. I can't afford (justify) the next one up. Picture number one is a midas, picture number three is an amarillo.

I'd like to see more pics of the bifas. You have some nice fish, and the pics are great!

Your camera store must have a sweet return policy, didnt you have an xsi, and a t1i before this one? Just out of curiosity what didnt you like about them? (was thinking of purchasing them before I bought my d90)

and cool pics btw.

I originally purchased an XS from walmart. I decided that I would prefer to have the 15 mp and video so I returned it and went to Ritz Cameras and picked up the T1i. The T1i is a great camera but the video was lacking in my opinion. Since I decided that video wasn't that important to me as far as the camera went I decided to go with a better camera. The 50D is a little more user friendly as far as the controls go, it is also larger and feels much better in my hands.

I realize that as a beginner I don't need such a nice camera. However, I also know how I am and that in a year I would end up purchasing the 50D anyway. So, to me it makes more sense to go ahead and get it now when it only cost me $300 to upgrade instead of next year when I would have to spend $1200 to buy it and then sell the T1i.

Walmart has a 30 day return policy, Ritz has a 30 day exchange (not sure about returns) policy.

In my opinion, all three of the cameras are amazing! I do prefer the 15 mp though, it's nice to be able to crop a little more and not lose quality. I don't have anything negative to say about any of them.

Oh, since I'm hoping this can be my new hobby I figure it is worth spending a little money to have what I want (rather than what I need). The surgeon told me that my days of racing bikes are over so I am going to have quite a bit of free time on my hands. :)

Totally makes sense to me, ive never really understood the buying "beginner" equipment in anything I do, how long until you outgrow, or just want the next level up. May as well go hard the first time IMO. anyways, nice cam and nice pics ;)

There is still quite a bit of noise in the photos. What is your ISO set at? Not saying they're crappy (they're better than I can take with my crap POS...I mean point and shoot), just trying to help improve!
