The istlanums aren't a pair yet. The female had a nest with another male in the tank i got them from, but we couldn't catch that male, so i got this one instead.
The 2nd fish is a Herichthys Pantostictus. I also have his female, but they turn out to be extremely hard to photograph at the moment. Hopefully it will get easier when they settle in.
The male istlanum is 4" and the female is 2". The male pantostictus is 5" and his female 3".
I must say though, as impressive as istlanums are in person, the pantostictus have a much more interesting pair behaviour, and much wider range of color changes depending on moods. It's really dissapointing that i cannot for the life of me get a shot of the pantostictus, that is worth a damn, to show these color changes constantly going on. It's like a complete transformation into something way different!
I definatly recommend anyone to aquire this species if able!
