Trust me that won't happen. The clarias and bichir have been together for about 1.5 years, always with about the same size difference.
I know clarias have a bad rep, but he is the most active and most harmless clarias I have EVER seen. Not aggressive in the slightest, and his favourite food is floating pellets. The biggest fish he has ever eaten is a molly.
Put it this way, I have grown 3 bala sharks from 2 to 6 inches with that clarias
And there is also a mystus catfish in that tank, at a slender 4 inches, happily sits next to the clarias sometimes, a 6 inch pictus too.
The most that ever happens between the clarias and the bichir is the creamy bichir sometimes bites the clarias' side and the clarias' dashes off like a mad thing.
I got the clarias at about 5 inches btw - does anyone know what clarias it is? Fuscus maybe?
Rottbo - yeah the loisellei is pretty cool, it's a pretty fish for sure. I've had it since about 5 inches, to be honest it just looked like a smaller, duller version of this fish. Didn't look much like a jag, well maybe slightly like a female jag
