SeaTurtle, my advice to you if you plan to get one: More than likely it'll come as a freshwater fish, keep it that way in a tank by itself for a couple weeks. They shouldn't stay in freshwater long, but when they're moved around they get pretty stressed, so having tankmates wouldn't be too good, and neither would immediately changing the salinity of the water.
Once it's been alone in freshwater for a week or two, and it's eating well with no signs of stress, then start to SLOWLY bring up the SG to the desired rage (I'd recommend 1.010-14 myself). It took me about 3 weeks to bring my SG up to 1.014. You bring it up slowly so that new bacterial colonies can grow. Every time you add more salt, it kills off most of your beneficial bacteria, which is really bad for your water and your fish.
After that, if you feel the toadfish is comfortable and eating well, you can add larger non-aggressive fish. Toadfish are almost literally all mouth. The first night that I had mine I added him to a grow out tank I had, and within 30 minutes he was swimming around with a 4" bichir in his mouth, which was shocking considering that Leon was only 4.5" at that time. So really, make sure that any fish you add are larger than the entire toadfish. Not bigger than their mouth, not the same size as the toad, but definitely BIGGER.
Just my two cents from my experiences with this awesome fish.
Hopefully this helps, seeing there isn't much care-info out there on these fish.
