a few questions

ive been having some small issues with the filter exp. bio wheels wernt turning very well if at all. called marineland and they helped me solve that ...impeller was very dirty. filter cartridge floss has been building up like crazy. i added some more floss on both vents on the intake tube. cleaned the impeller and and packed some more floss on the outlett ports water flow is good nothing is coming out the overflows and the floss seems to have quieted down the filter aswell. ive added some carbon bags along with the cartiges too. i have started to vacuum SMALL sections of my gravel. im starting to wonder if those bio wheels not spinning have put my tank in a mini cycle like posted before. also......how do ya get rid of this hydra stuff i wipe this stuff off my tank on a daily basis its getting frustrating:nilly:
 
Check to see if the extra floss is coming into cantact with the Boi-Wheel that will stop it from spinning. As bio-Wheels age they start to stumbel with eratic movements, it's normal. When you clean your filter fill a 5 gallon bucket with tank water and swish the wheel in it to clean it and then put it back, do the same with the floss squeez it out and rinse like a sponge in the bucket and put it back. Don't try to cram too much extra floss into the filter it will be counter productive. The best thing to do is use either two HOBs or a canester and an HOB. Try not to use carbon, change the water like I said 50% a week and vacume all the crap off the bottom (important), your fish and filters will be much happier. There is nothing like clean water, the Hydra are feeding and multiplying in the sedament built up in the substrate (vacume). Maintance is the best prevention, I'll say it again clean water often, every week without fail.
 
You need a bigger tank, like now. A largemouth will outgrow a seventy five in months, if cared for properly.

Which time, LOL? I've been doing a little here and there, nothing major, just kinda testing the waters, so to speak. Only thing worth mentioning is a pirate perch, the rest is just the same old random centrarchids.
 
this mornings results. tank was reletively clear after some minnor mods to the filter and rinsing some cartriges, i filled all four cartrige slots in the penguin. looks good this morning fish are happier. ive come to the conclusion i must have thrown something off in the tanks some how because my ammonia levels were never this high when i was feeding alot more daily so im sure in time it will come down. the one bass is still not eating pellets but im hangin in there lol zimmerman just wondering if ya got any grass pickeral while collecting

Your nitrate levels show that you need to do more/larger water changes. Nitrates should be under around 60-80 ideally. As for the ammonia and nitrite, it looks like you may have thrown your tank into a mini-cycle somehow. As stated before, your tank is a bit heavily stocked, which can cause all of these problems.
 
Nope, no pickeral yet, hoping for some soon though. BTW, gravel vacuuming should not raise your ammonia levels. I do complete tank gravel vacuums every water change, and have never had a mini cycle.
