A few random Arowana questions from new owner

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What are the dimensions of the 300g, I would likely be very interested especially being in the same state.

Thanks for the info. I did add some salt. He is still eating so obviously he is ok so far, blood worms, mysis, Cichlid flakes, and shrimp so far. Spits out pellets.

Tank is at 80 right now.

Good to hear they relax when they get older. Hopefully you all can plan another meet, I'd like to see your Aro.

If you're ever heading to indy let me know. I'm right on the way.

The 300 is an 8x2x2.5' My sliver is in a 265 right now and still has plenty of room to turn and he seems comfy (not jumpy at all). I plan on getting a 36" wide tank and putting the fish that are in the 265 in it. Then I could move my jardini and marbled pim to the 265. The jar is about 22" so I might have to upgrade for him sometime too! LOL.

I am down there a couple times a year, I'll let you know. Sounds like you have quite the collection.

300 sounds nice, 8 footer is what I want. MSRP on a 300 Acrylic is spendy though. Whew

if the aro is spitting out the pellets that is a good sign. It recognizes them as food, just not to her taste...keep feeding all that you're feeding, and contijnue with the pellets...

Yep keep trying every now and then with the pellets, just make sure to remove it if it doesn't get eaten. When he's ready he'll accept it. Mine was pellet fed in the LFS, but when I got it home he wouldn't eat them. Every week I would throw in 1 pellet and he would attack it, then spit it back out. Actually he wouldn't touch anything except flakes, no crickets or mealworms or anything, was quite strange. When he reached about 7-8 inches I made the decision to starve him out until he accepted the pellets and he only went a day without food before he gave in.

Since yours is quite small, don't starve him just yet. Wait until its about 7 inches or so before you try to do anything drastic.

Good luck and welcome to MFK!

i thought a taller 180 was a 210? i think i need to brush up on my math...
a 180 is 6'x2'x2? isn't it

I'm about 30 minutes north of indy. Luckily we didn't get the flood.

Thanks again for all the info.

I couldn't even take a second to look at him this morning as I was already 20 mins late to work, ugh...

He was swimming though, I saw that much.

there! they said everything and left none for me.. i'll just be taking up space but then again, i might be penalized.. so i might as well post something useful.. question # 1.. i simply dont know the answer.. :screwy::screwy::screwy:question # 2.. the good old fashioned way, scrubbing.. if you love you aro enough, you need to get dirty.. in this case, wet.. one can never get a good aro without scrubbing hard first..:ROFL::ROFL: question # 3.. you still have time to "think" of a "strategy" on how to transfer a 2'+ aro.. and lastly, read other threads.. MFK is a goldmine waiting to be explored.. Goodluck!:D:D:D:D:D:D
