a few shark questions

What sort of footprint do the small wobbies need? I know they barely move usually so I'm guessing they don't need as big of a footprint. I'm going to try to get a picture of the one at my LFS this weekend. And yes my internet is working.

Some of the more common wobbs are these:
Tasseled will get about 4 feet long.
Ornates (banded) will get about 8-9 feet long.
Northern will get about 3 feet long.

Just look close at what the shark realy is. They look very similar when small, and it would suck to think you are buying a 3 foot shark and end up getting a 9 foot shark.

Wobbs do lay around alot, but they will swim up in the water column. I'd say you'd want at least 4 times the max length in every direction.

Yeah - it's actually pretty scary how similar the "dwarf" wobbies look to their larger cousins.

Anyone not aware of the differences could easily misidentify and mistake one species for the next.

The larger species such as the Ornates & Spotted aren't suited for private aquarists - these species require tanks/lagoons that are at least in the 10s of thousands of gallons. And rightfully these species should be consider - as practical to keep as an adult Nurse Shark.

The smaller species - such as Cobbler, Japanese, & Northern(Ward's) are much more suited in size for the Private Aquarist. Still these species such have tanks or lagoons - at least as large as similar sized Bamboos, Eppies, or Bullhead(Horn) Sharks.

Well, the wobbie at my LFS for now is completely unidentifiable to me. It looks like, well, I'm not sure. Mostly like a mix between a wards and a spotted, so I might wait a bit.

Personally I would suggest - if you can't ID it - don't buy it.

Since Ward's (northern) Wobbies are virtually unknown to in North American LFS. And the Spotted Wobbies do sometimes show up in LFS. Chances are pretty good it's likely a Spotted. And Spotted Wobbies get to be true Monsters - 8-10 ft long.

Okay, I'm going to the LFS tomorrow or maybe today, so I'll bring a camera.

Okay, I went to the LFS, I got the picture, but I can't get it on my computer right now, as I need to find the cable that connects the camera to computer. I looked at some more pictures and it's definatly not a wards, but it also has a different spot pattern and color than a spotted. It seems closest to a tasseled, but with less barbel thingys. I'll have the pic tomorrow.
