a few updates on the 90

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Aquascape does look really nice. Hope they dont wipe out the plants too fast. Better get those Uaru moved and they should last longer at least. Looking forward to seeing what all you stock in it.

Morning coffee hadn't kicked in yet :D About a week and a half ago...

Yeah, I find that posting before the 6th or 8th cup of coffee ends badly for my posts.

:WHOA::WHOA::WHOA: man that's really worrisome, considering the future tankmates :(

I've been told by people that have kept them before that it was a very unusual male, but then since yours already killed one female, now I'm not too sure.

Only the types you put in the aquarium, or the ones that serve irish cream milkshakes. :grinno:

He stays in a corner now and seems to tolerate the other smaller one (hope it's a she). He took the eyes out of the smallest one and did a mark on her side too...she stayed in a hospital net for a couple of days and didn't make it :(

I'd love to see a planted tank you did pay attention to as this no attention tank looks great.

lol thanks.

I'm a plant newbie (see the mostly dead swords?) so I really don't know whether these plant should even be together (considering my light and water), and which species should be where (foreground, background, etc)....things I'd think the experts would pay attention to. For now it's easy on the eyes coz it's green, but I'm sure to plant experts it's more like "what the %#@_" :D I guess I'll see species survive in the end then do some serious reading. I suspect that it may just be the Anubias and the onions in a few more days!

Just a note about the Laetacara... I have a group of wild-caught dorsigera that are about a year and a half old. All five were together for about a year and did well. I ended up with two bonded pairs that took up separate ends of a 55 and spawned weekly. I removed the fifth wheel and put him in my community tank, then the two pairs got aggressive. One would spawn and beat the hell out of the other, then the next week that pair would spawn and retaliate.

This went on for a couple weeks, so I split them up and put each pair in its own tank. Two days later, the male from each pair had beaten its mate to near-death. The females both lost all their fins and, in one case, an entire caudal peduncle was chewed off. I managed to get one female to fully recover, but the caudal peduncle didn't heal properly on the other and so only half a tail grew back. She's alone in a discus tank where nothing will bother her.

I never expected this from the fish because they did so well together for a year and the pairs seemed so strongly bonded. The four healthy fish are back together in my 150 now and they get along fine, including the abusive male and his previous mate, but I don't dare separate them again.
