I've really been tired of the metal scene for a while, and your speaking to a veteran. However, I've yet to hear anything new, anything thats different, a change, the next level, "progession," understand what I mean? I have almost entirely shied away from listening to metal/rock. The one album I anticipated and did not disappoint was Watershed, by Opeth. True musicians with no boundaries, a true voice, unparalleled artistic ability, and all around great musicians.
The thing is with these new bands classified as "nu-metal" is that they don't go anywhere with their music, progression is non existent. Rather they slap on a new picture on their album and rename the tracks and viola a new albums ready to make millions for corporations. No offense to any of you that listen to this music, I'm just stating what happens. I can't see how people wouldn't get tired of the same ol' crap all the time. Redundant albums about love/hate. No real concept to the album an idea with depth, and unfolding layers as tracks start and end. Just some food for thought.
. . . and groove aren't you still a child/minor? Can't blame you you've been raised during the flourishing of this crap.
