drogo vs mountain ends with drogo's horse split in half and drogo wounded while the mountain lets him live, only to be subdued by infection a week later


btw, in the poll I keep bringing up, the hound lost to Jaime by only 10 votes. Robert berathion beat syrio forel and right now is berristan selmy vs Robert beratheon which selmy is winning. he's got like 100 votes and bob only has like half that
 
Yeah the mountain in full plate armor would whoop Drogo haha

It would have been cool to see them in action more (as in general of the characters "wasted") but I don't think they were wasted. For sure weren't wasted in the books. Yeah we only saw Drogo fight once and the mountain decapitate a horse and kill those guys in the beginning if last episode, but i feel it triggers your imagination to imagine them totally destroying guys in battle

If the prince of dawn wins didn't he state that his sole purpose was to kill the mountain? Therefore if he wins the mountain should be dead, although I don't think the mountain will die because he is such a staple to the lannisters thus creating more value to the series. I want the prince to win yet I don't want the mountain to die...... Yet.

2) all this hype and we hardly see him in action. we've only gotten a couple of lines from him, very short glimpses of what he can do. only real thing we've seen him do is cut his horse's head off when he lost that jousting match against ser Loras. I don't want his first real time in a major scene involving him be his last. it would be a waste of character. much like Khal Drogo.

Agreed...It's tough to pick a favorite in that fight since if Oberyn loses then my favorite character dies but then again I want to see more from Gregor...for Gregor to be killed off so soon it would almost be up there with Lucas killing off Darth Maul after appearing in only one film...a monumental waste of a great character.
 
Maybe they won't allow Oberyn to fight for Tyrion,then what?
 
And we've seen MANY characters who are larger off screen (or through legacy or word of mouth in book) die with very lil true air time. No one is safe from dying in GRRM world. characters are literally wasted. Prince oberyn has only been around for a few episodes so far and the mountain that rides is largely background noise and legacy himself. pretty good job GRRM did making you get emotionally attached or choose sides with characters that are mostly word of mouth and past tense action.

Point is they are two interesting characters and I guess quite a few writers waste good characters in their stories.I brought up George Lucas as a good example.
 
Over my head bro, I don't watch that crap lol.

I know what you meant though, was just responding to the general feel from posts by numerous members about characters dying.
