I watch Vikings and I think it's pretty good.I even made a thread about it but not many here seem to watch it...I also saw the 13 Warrior and enjoyed that as well.
 
Just watched the very first episode of Spartacus. Kept wondering who the fluff that guy was as I had no idea they had changed actors and he wasn't being referred to as spartacus

The first guy got sick and died between seasons and they were going to scrap the whole series but then decided against it and got the second actor....Spartacus was the slave name that his captors placed on him.

I picked up how he got the name. How'd the first actor die?
 
Sadly, he got cancer. His first treatments went well, and was even declared cancer free ... but relapsed and couldn't pull through the second time. I believe it was non-Hodgkins lymphoma if I remember right.

He did give his blessings to his replacement, though it took me a while to warm up to the second guy. By the last season I was buying it, but the second season I was iffy on him.
 
He died after the first series, i believe.

No disrespect meant to a dead person, he was as bad as this one...
What kills me in Spartacus is the pretense pre medieval dialogue. It is pushing ridicule to the limits.

Actually the first Spartacus died after season one and the replacement didn't show up until season 3. Instead of postponing season 2 while the first guy was sick, they instead did a short season 2 which was a prequel to season 1. They did this to buy time while getting the replacement for season 3. The second season took place before Spartacus showed up and that's how they were able to pull it off. It was almost 2 years between seeing the new guy so it wasn't as big of shock like it would be if you watched it on netflix or something.
