A Game Of Thrones

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Jeez, my chick was watching this show today and I just really can not get in to it. I caught a lot of the first season. Just like well acted, high production value soft core skinemax to me. I usually like this kind of story too. I'll get around to reading a book or two in the series and see if that gets me in to it.

flying back tomorrow eddie? sounds like you had a good time

yea this was definitely a filler episode. build up of things to come.

I like watching tywin, little finger and the eunuch for their dialogue and when little finger and the eunich have a scene together it's pretty damn interesting. so looks like the old lady (tyrell queen?) has accepted tywin's terms for cerci to marry her son? and tyrion has told sansa that they will wed.

correct me if i'm wrong, little finger and the eunuch's scene. they talked about how they liked thwarting eachother's plans. the eunuch knew of little finger's plans to take sansa with him. and little finger found out the eunuch was using one of his prostitutes as one of his "little birds" and that the eunuch was trying to hook up sansa and the tyrell homosexual. then he gives her to joffrey to kill with his bow gun.

Yeah, I caught it ... was just catching up on Dexter. Filler episode as mentioned, didn't think it was one of their best efforts. Kind of disappointed with this season thus far, the previews made it sound like lots and lots of war ... so I was hoping for some battle scenes. But alas, not yet.

Sumo - that wasn't Sansa, that was the little bird. And yeah, watching granny tyrell and Tywin go at it was rather amusing.

The books really helped me. I absorb information from words rather well and I became much more engrossed in this universe thanks to the books.

correct me if i'm wrong, little finger and the eunuch's (Varys) scene. they talked about how they liked thwarting eachother's plans. the eunuch knew of little finger's plans to take sansa with him. and little finger found out the eunuch was using one of his prostitutes as one of his "little birds" and that the eunuch was trying to hook up sansa and the tyrell homosexual (Ser Loras). then he gives her to joffrey to kill with his bow gun.

I agree, Varys and Petyr are some of the best dialogs in the show. The producers seem to use their conversations as a way to fill the people in on whats going on, kind of like a narrative.

The reason everyone wants Sansa is because with Robb in open rebellion, she is the heir apparent to Winterfell. Everyone thinks the two boys are dead at the hands of Theon Greyjoy and with all male Stark heirs apparently dead, Sansa will inherit Winterfell. Whoever manages to marry her will have a vested interest in the North; if the Lannisters marry Tyrion off to her, they will have the West with Casterly Rock, a vested interest in Highgarden and The Reach (via the Cersei and Loras wedding), and the North and powerful influence with Joffery on the Iron Throne. If they successfully pull that off, they will have an unmatched politcal power to go with their unmatched wealth.

On the other hand, if the Tyrells can marry Loras to Sansa, they will be able to challenge the Lannisters for the position of most powerful family in the Seven Kingdoms*. The Lannisters would be limited to their positions as Wardens in the west and their investment in the Throne, but would be out maneuvered by the Tyrells who would also have a very powerful influence in Kings Landing, the Reach and the North.

Tywin can't let this happen.

*- It would appear at first glance that since Joffery is ostensibly a Baratheon, the Baratheons would be the most powerful family in the Seven Kingdoms. However, he is a de facto Lannister with no apparent loyalty to his father's house. House Baratheon is in shambles.

Oh, and "salt and bread"...

the series is cardboard, compared to the books.

Really. People who do not read George Martin's saga are losing a fine piece of fantasy lit.

I am waiting for the series to finish before picking up the books ... that way I can still enjoy the series without knowing how little it compares to the books.

Some interesting scenes...They were doing a number on those rabbits and they looked real...the wall climbing scene was nice but I expected him to kill the guy for cutting their line...So the woman told the Stark girl that she would be closing a few eyes...can't wait to see how that plays out.

Not sure you should take the word of someone who watched 2 episodes. I think they're doing a good job of not steering away from the book. The changes have been minor

I know you're gonna stick to your gun though and wait. No biggie
