so he khaleesi's dad is the mad king?

if not, who is this mad king? and why is he called mad king?

and why did Jamie kill him? I remember them talking abou tit but didn't catch it clearly

Exactly. His name was Aerys Targeryan, also known as the Mad King. Jaimie Lannister was part of his Kingsguard and killed him in order to help Robert Barratheon get on the Iron Throne.

Yes the mad king is the khaleeshi's dad. He was insane. Literally. Got paranoid as he got older and saw everything as a slight or defiance. Had an obsession with burning people.

During a war to overthrow him
He ordered Jamie to kill his own father and planned to burn the kingdom down when Robert's army arrived in Kings landing. He was under the impression he'd rise from the fire like the khaleeshi did. So, Jamie killed him before he could burn the city with wild fire. Saving countless lives

damn you GOT geeks are good. thanks. I missed a lot of these details as I watched since I didn't know everyone by name. that's why it takes a few watches to get everything. but i'm not gonna watch the whole thing over again. good thing I have you guys

ok, so Jamie killed him because he was crazy. not because he had something to gain? or both?

and one more question for now. who is that old man that died in the first season where ned stark suspected him of being poisoned? and who did the poisoning? what's the story behind that old man poisoning thing?

He was the Hand of the King to Robert Baratheon. The Lannisters were making a power play and killing him was part of it. The Lannisters are trying to get Geoffrey on the Iron Throne as he is pure blood Lannister, though I'm not entirely sure even he knows that, but Jamie and his mother the Queen do.

that was interesting. let me know if I got this right ok?

so the mad king's son stoled ned stark's sister, then Brandon who is ned stark's brother goes to demand his sister back. mad king takes him and eventually their dad and have them killed

mad king wants ned and Robert from this other guy who raised them or whatever. the other guy joins ned and Robert in a rebellion

oh ok, so that's when Robert asked ned stark to be his new hand

The guy who was poisoned was John Aryn. Hand of the king Robert Barratheon. He was the ruler of the Vale. His wife was the crazy lady who was breastfeeding her 7 year old and tried to throw Tyrion through the ''skydoor''. The place where Tyrion had a trial by combat and his boy Bronn stepped up for him and killed his challenger.

Did I just get called a geek? I honestly forget which part is book and which is show. Kinda bleeds in and I forget the back stories the show didn't cover.
