guys a friend of mine is giving me 2 tiger oscars (around 3-4") i saw the oscars for myself last nyt. they look good and well fed. my problem is i have no place for them.

what do u guys suggest? id buy a new aquarium new filter and etc for those 2 oscars? or just decline my friends offer?

thoughts ad suggestions are well appreciated. tnx :)

Unless you can go at minimum 75 gal with tons of filtration pass on the deal. Just keep in mind you can get oscars any time anywhere.

I agree. Oscars are a dime a dozen practically. Plus if you do get a new tank, new filteration, etc. you need to give it time to cycle.

dont take them unless you can provide them with an adequate tank.

Pass if you cant give them atleast a 90Gal, Plus as stated Oscars are a dime a dozen. Every pet store an LFS always has them.

they arent adults yet.. they are around 3-4" still kids i guess.. cant they be in a 50gal tank? just the 2 of them?

hmmm just wondering how come my flowerhorn lives in a 50gal tank and the water is not getting dirty. are oscars dirty?

youre talking about 2 oscars vs 1 flowerhorn and yes oscars are messy.
even though they are small now they will be full size in no time .

oscars are the fastest growing cichlids. they reach adult size long before anything else does. your 5" oscars will be 10"shortly. pass the offer. cycle your tank if he still has them then think about it more, but till then whats the point?

you cant tell what the waters like by looking at it. the pollutants are invisible to the naked eye. i would recommend no less than a 75 gallon tank id say a 50 gal was too small. especially if they start fighting as they mature.
